BRIEF: In June 2013, British Airways launched its UnGrounded Innovation Lab in the Sky hack at 35,000 feet, on a 747 flying between San Franicsco and London. More than 100 entrepreneurs were assembled to address "the global misalignment of talent." Once in London, San Jose-based Community Technology Alliance's BeaconPack was one of three winners at the United Nations-sponsored DNA Conference for the UnGrounded project. With this win, CTA CEO Jen Padgett, BA parent company International Airline Group’s Glenn Morgan and Ghana-based entrepreneur Will Senyo launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds for BeaconPack's first, real-world launch in rural Ghana.

APPROACH: In addition to a strategic, integrated social media campaign and international media pitching, BSPOKE storyboarded and wrote the Indiegogo campaign’s central video, inclusive of overall storytelling concept and script development, with filming and editing courtesy of CTA.

RESULTS: As the Indiegogo campaign’s anchor video asset, CTA successfully raised 52% of its flexible $25K launch goal for BeaconPack. In November 2014, CTA and The Frugal Innovation Lab at Santa Clara University partnered to continue developing BeaconPack’s one-of-a-kind concept and technology.
